Support
Sidequesters is a small-group app for meeting people around real-world activities in New York, Houston, Los Angeles, DC, Boston, and Chicago. If something isn't working or you need a hand, this page covers the common questions and how to reach a person.
We're a small team. We aim to reply within a few days; messages about safety, harassment, or account access are prioritised and handled first. Please include the email address on your account and, if it helps, the name of the ping involved.
Signing in
Sidequesters is passwordless. Enter your email and we send a one-time magic link (with a typed code as a fallback). If the link doesn't arrive:
- Check your spam or promotions folder for a message from sidequesters.app.
- Make sure you typed the same address you signed up with.
- Request a new link — older links expire and can only be used once.
- Still stuck? Email us and we'll help you get back in.
Safety and reporting
Every ping host curates their own group, and you can report or block any host or group member from inside the app — open their profile or the group chat and choose Report or Block. Blocking hides every ping where that person is the host or an accepted member, and unblocking is never disclosed to them.
Every report is read by a person on the team. We can remove content and restrict, suspend, or remove accounts that put other members at risk. Reports that involve a threat to someone's safety are handled ahead of routine ones, and reports are confidential. To reach us about safety, harassment, or another member's conduct, email support@sidequesters.app.
If you're in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (911 in the US) first. Then let us know so we can act on the account.
Pings and group chat
- Groups are small by design — a host plus up to four others.
- Request to join with an optional note; the host accepts or declines.
- Group chat opens once you're accepted and closes automatically 24 hours after the event.
- A host can edit or cancel their own ping; if a ping is cancelled, everyone in it is notified.
Connections
After a meetup where both people checked in at the venue, you can send a connection request. Connecting is mutual — it only unlocks a 1:1 chat once the other person accepts.
Notifications
Manage what you're notified about in Profile → Settings → Notifications. Categories can be turned on or off individually; a few safety- and account-related notices are always on.
Managing or deleting your account
Go to Profile → Settings to update your details or sign out. To delete your account, use Delete account in Settings. Deletion has a 30-day reversible grace period — you'll see the exact restoration date, and you can undo it from a banner in your profile any time before then. After 30 days the account and its data are permanently removed.
Photos
Sidequesters doesn't use photos to introduce you. Browsing and ping cards show your name, age, hometown, current city, industry, and a generated colour-and-shape icon — never a picture. You can optionally add up to five profile photos in Edit Profile. They're stored privately, are reviewed before anyone else can see them, and stay hidden from everyone else until you're accepted into a group together. You can remove a photo at any time. To report a photo or any other content, use Report on the member's profile or email support@sidequesters.app.
Where we operate
Sidequesters is live in New York, Houston, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Boston, and Chicago for now. Current city during sign-up is limited to those six.
